Ancient Gerulata is a national cultural monument and a Roman mansion that
located in the Rusovce district of Bratislava. This mansion was the first in
line Carnuntum – Ad Flexum and was used
The grounds of buildings from the 1st to the 4th century can be found on the museum premises. IN
the exterior presents a late antique fortress from the 4th century, which
it was built into the northern corner of the original mansion.
The complex monument treatment of the site began to be implemented in 1975. For
the presentation of findings from archaeological research from this location was
built a modern exhibition hall, in which it has been located since 1985
exposition dedicated to monuments from the Roman era.
The exhibition presents the history of building and the life of the manor’s inhabitants
primarily through archaeological findings. Exceptional, first and
the only find is the already mentioned brick with Ala I Cannanefatum stamp. Last
the rebuilding phase of Gerulata took place in the 4th century.
The Museum of Ancient Gerulata is located in the area of the former Roman military
camp in the Bratislava – Rusovce district. Entrance fee for the tour
exhibits can be purchased at the museum ticket office.
