This remarkable building, a landmark of Banská Štiavnica, is also known by its name
New Castle, Maiden’s or Maiden’s Castle. It is located on Frauenberg
hills. The anti-Turkish Renaissance fortress was built in 1564-1571.
At the same time, the new castle served as a watchtower – watchtower. He was part of it
the anti-Turkish military signaling system of the Central Slovak Unity
mining towns (7 well-known mining towns – Pukanec, Nová Baňa, Banská
Štiavnica, Banská Belá, Kremnica, Banská Bystrica and Ľubietová), which
it extended from Levice to Ľubietová. After the end of the Turkish wars, he served as
gunpowder warehouse for the Banská Štiavnica mining industry, later it was based here
fire patrol, so-called “”living hours””.
The exhibition documents the military situation, the armament of anti-Turkish fortresses,
weapons of the Hungarian and Turkish troops, painted shooting targets, which
the origin dates back to the period of the Turkish conquests, paintings of members of the Koháry family,
which touches on the battles against the Turks.

The so-called seven-barreled cannon organ from the 16th century, Turkish scimitar, castle
rifles, incendiary pitch sticks, life-size sculptures of Turks,
oriental interiors, guardhouse of the Hungarian army, etc.
