Smolenický castle, as the youngest castle in Slovakia, is currently a property
Slovak Academy of Sciences.
Everyone offers guided tours for tourists during the school year
weekend, during the summer holidays it is open every day. In other days
serves as the SAS congress center.
Smolenice Castle was built anew at the beginning of the 20th century by Count Jozef
Pálffym. Its history dates back to the 15th century. Since then, he has replaced several
owners and at the end of the 19th century only ruins remained.
But thanks to Count Pálffy, it came back to life and tourists can now enjoy it
enjoy its romantic appearance in the spirit of French castles.
On the tour you will see several beautiful salons, an exhibition in the tower of the castle,
which has 99 steps and, last but not least, a view from the tower of beautiful peaks
of the Small Carpathians that surround it.
It is not for nothing that it is called the Pearl of the Small Carpathians.
