The Renaissance city tower has stood on Trnava’s Trojičné námestie since 1574, when its construction was completed by the master mason Jakub. Towers were a popular fashion accessory in medieval cities and expressed their wealth and prosperity. The information function of the tower was fulfilled by a sundial, which was supplemented in the eighteenth century by a mechanical clock with five dials. It still shows time today, without any electrification, only with the help of three weights. At a height of 29 meters, after overcoming 143 steps you will find yourself on a lookout point, from which you will have a view of the monuments of the historical center of Trnava and the nearby Little Carpathians.
