The zoo is neither similar to a circus nor a prison for animals, as some people unfortunately think, every visit of tourists to the zoo or donation helps to save endangered animal species. Thanks to zoos, animal species live that would have been extinct long ago without zoos. 

European zoos work systematically under the patronage of the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA) to create the most natural environment for animals. And it is at this point that one of the most challenging and important programs of zoos begins, because zoos are not only centers for the preservation of nature, but they are inherent educational centers fighting to create and maintain the balance between humans and nature.
